Putting the Right People in the Room

Thanks to The North American Model of Conservation, our nation is home to some of the largest expanses of pristine natural landscapes on the planet. This model depends on the successful collaboration between the hunting community, the scientific community and managing agencies. Unfortunately, the members of these communities don’t always speak the same language, and they definitely don’t always see eye to eye.

When communication breaks down between these parties, bad decisions that lead to more turmoil are made, but more importantly these decisions lead to a decline in habitat quality and game species population health. To prevent this from happening, The Scientific Outdoorsmen Foundation was created to focus on facilitating better communication among stakeholders so that everyone affected by the decision making process fully understands each other so that a management strategy that benefits all parties can be found.

The Scientific Outdoorsmen Foundation is dedicated to finding those rare representatives that not only hunt and fish, but also understand the science and the goals of managing agencies to help navigate complicated management issues and guide decision making processes to favor the often underrepresented hunting community. Putting these individuals in the room when difficult conversations take place ultimately ensures that the wildlife and natural resources that we hold dear are managed appropriately.
